It started its line of Rhino Commercial and Heavy Commercial Aluminum window series in 1989-89 band has since added 7 new lines, each reflecting its commitment to the highest industry standards for manufacturing excellence with AAMA test results to back up its claims. In 1993, it started a line of vinyl windows and patio doors in the Comfort Series to meet the exacting demands of 21st century replacement and construction markets. Its plants are located at 5000 Rhino Road, South Sioux City, Nebraska.

All Rhino and Comfort Series windows exceed current ASHRAE 90.1 2007 requirements to help reduce economic and environmental impacts resulting from excessive energy.

Gerkin products use insulated Low E Cubed glass with argon gas and warm edge spacers and are NFRC and AAMA certified as their U-Values and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient values meet or exceed ASHRAE 90.1 -2007 requirements, Gerkin windows pass water and structural standards while its air infiltration performance is over 300% better than the ASHRAE standard.

Gerkin meets the LEED requirement that building materials supplied are within 500 miles of any project site. Its market points in Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Denver, Oklahoma City, Kansas City and St. Louis are within 500 miles from its plants in South Sioux, Nebraska.

Gerkin windows incorporate recovered or recycled materials. Its glass contain 24% recycled factory glass, aluminum has a minimum of 40% and vinyl 12%.

Gerkin’s Comfort Series vinyl windows meet 2009 Energy Star ratings in all areas of the country while thermally broken Rhino Series offer Energy Star compliance in many areas of Southern and Central U.S. Due to their high energy efficiency, they also qualify for tax credits which are extended through 2011 as incentive for energy-efficient home improvements. The incentive under the pre-Economic Recovery Act allow consumers to 10% up to $200 of the purchase price of qualified windows from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2011, excluding the $1,500 limit for 2009-2010.
